Diaper Drive!!
It is estimated to cost over $1,100 per year to keep a baby in diapers. It takes, on average, 90 diapers per week to keep a baby changed every 1 to 3 hours. Most children, on average, need diapers for at least 2.5 years or over 130 weeks. That's over 11,700 diaper changes!
Diapers are not provided by WIC, which can present a financial hardship for low income mothers. Based on these statistics and the current economic situation, recent studies have found that 1 in 3 mothers struggle to provide adequate diapers for their children. Not having adequate diaper changes can open the door a host of diseases and illnesses. Unfortunately, it is often a matter of choosing food over diapers for many mothers.
No mother should have to choose between food and diapers!
To help meet this need, TSM hosted it's first Diaper Drive in an effort to serve the many mothers and babies who are in need in southeast Florida. We sincerely thank each of you who dropped off diapers and donations at one of our locations. Because of you, enough diapers were collected for 90 diaper changes a week (which is the average) for 8 weeks! That's a two month's supply for two babies!
Thank you for your assistance in helping us to meet the needs of mothers and babies. Please continue to support our efforts to keep every bottom clean, dry and healthy!
